Our StoryAnona is a church that is nearly 140 years old and yet remains a vibrant faith community to the current day. Beginning in the days of some of Florida's earliest pioneers, Anona was a community church that began in a home before the first church building was constructed in 1874. Leadership came from people in the community and through the occassional visits of a circuit riding (horseback riding) pastor. In these early pioneer days, people came together to give of their time and resources to establish a church that would become a source of comfort, strength and encouragement for individuals, families, and the community. This pioneer spirit continues Anona. Balancing a value for our history and traditions with a desire to bring the Gospel to life for every generation, Anona seeks to provide powerful opportunities for expressing our faith as we worship, grow, and serve together. Our history propels us forward. Those who have gone before us laid a firm foundation to build upon and today we seek to provide a still firmer foundation for the generations that will come after us. In other words, we believe that as wonderful as it is to look back at our history, Christ calls us forward. Christ calls us to belief, but we also believe that he calls us to learn, teach and live our faith out in the world. The best still lies ahead, and we invite you to join us at this point in our history as we seek to impact our community and world for Christ together.
