Dr. Jerry CadeAbout my Life: My wife Elaine and I have been married for 33 years and are the parents of two grown children Rebecca, of Bradenton, FL and Benjamin of Nicholasville, KY and four grandchildren, Dominic, Savannah, Matthew, and Austin.Formal Education: I didn’t start out strong in my education but while serving in the U.S. Navy from 1971-1975, I discovered that my life had a purpose and I was finally ready to begin my mission. There were many challenges and some set backs but In 1979 I graduated from Houghton College with a major in Christian Education and minors in psychology, sociology, and Bible. I graduated with an M.S.Ed. from St. Bonaventure University in Community Mental Health in 1981 and I completed my Ph.D. in 1992 at the University of South Florida in the area of counselor education with a concentration in psychological and social foundations of education.Career Experience: I served as Vice President for Student Life at Southern Wesleyan University in Central, SC from 1999-2006. I was a counselor at the Health Education Center of St. Petersburg College from 1995 until 1999. For 12 years I was in private practice as a Licensed Mental Health counselor at Anona UMC in Largo with the Network of Christian Counseling Centers, Inc. I have also worked with divorce mediation and a program at St. Petersburg College called Helping Children Cope with Divorce. I enjoy teaching and have taught a number of courses in counseling and psychology for the University of South Florida, Southern Wesleyan University, Webster University, and Clemson University. In the summer of 2007, I returned to Anona to start the Anona Center 4 Living Well. For fun, besides spending time with my family, I enjoy music and play guitar when I can in the praise band here at Anona.
