Hurricane Irma Updates

Hurricane Irma Updates

Sept. 18, 2017

It is time for a Special Giving to Aid Hurricane Irma Relief Efforts!  This Sunday, September 24, Anona will be handing out special giving envelopes at all our services.  An additional gift will be collected to help victims recover from the destruction of Hurricane Harvey.  The victims and their families, the volunteers, and those working tirelessly are all in our prayers. Whatever you can donate will be appreciated. Please remember to write Hurricane Irma on the memo line.  Blessings!

Anona...it is time to BE HELP! This week we will be part of an effort of The United Methodist Church to help victims of Hurricane Irma in south Florida. They are short of many items and this will provide a rapid response to an immediate need.

Bring the following items to Anona United Methodist Church (13233 Indian Rocks Road Largo 33774):

- Water
- Prepackaged nonperishable food items
- Batteries
- Bread
- Disposable plates, cups and to-go containers
- Handi-Wipes
- Hand sanitizer

Drop items off at the front door of the church at any time up to 3:00 pm on Sunday.

Sunday after 3:00 we'll load everything we collect in trailers and pick-up trucks before heading south Monday morning to deliver the food and product to distribution centers in south Florida.

You can help in another way. Visit the Anona Facebook page and don't just "LIKE" the post on this initiative, "SHARE" it so we can get our entire community on board!

If you can help deliver the food Monday, contact Richard

Sunday we'll also be collecting info on people that need help and people that can be help. If you need help recovering from the storm or if you can help others to recover from the storm, sign the list and let us know.

Thank you in advance for your compassion, generosity and willingness to be the church.

See you Sunday for worship (all services will take place at their normal times and locations)!

We WILL have all of our Sunday Morning Worship Services this weekend. We look forward to coming together as a community for worship.

Thursday Night - Contemporary Band Rehearsal is still happening to prep for Sunday's worship.

Sunday Night Youth Group will resume this weekend! See you there!

The church office, Anona Child Development Center, and all regularchurch programs/classes will resume on Monday Sept 18th.

Communication is back up and running... Most staff receive emails to their phones, however communication may be delayed due to the office being closed until Monday.

------------------------------------------

Sept. 12, 2017

All church communication is down (phones, email, etc...) Please check back here or Social Media for updates.

Currently all church programs are suspended until further notice as we assess our ability to return to the church. We will follow the Pinellas County School Board for when we will open again for programs and response with the community. The School Board is deciding today when they will re-open and  we will update you here as soon as possible.

We continue our prayers for you, your family, and our communities that are affected by Hurricane Irma. Please let us know how we can help, when we are back able to communicate and organize.

Sept. 6, 2017

Anona friends and families,

We are continuing to closely monitoring the status of Hurricane Irma.  Although the exact trajectory of the storm and impact on our region remains uncertain, our community's preparedness and the safety of our staff and families is our priority.  For this reason and the closure of Pinellas Schools, our Pastors have made the decision to close the Anona campus Thursday - Monday (which includes all church programs and Anona Child Development Center).  We will not be having Sunday worship services or Sunday programs due to preparation for and probability of hurricane Irma's impact that day.  We hope these cancellations and closures will provide our families and staff the time needed to prepare for the potential impact of hurricane Irma.

Student Ministry: There will be NO Sunday Night Youth this week due to the storm. We'll see you next week!

Rock The Universe: Unfortunately we will no longer be able to attend the Rock The Universe event this weekend. We WILL be able to offer a full refund for the event! (so, there's good news!) Please contact Youth Director: Cory Osborne for questions.  Click here for links to: student ministry facebook or instagram.

Anona's campus is located in an evacuation zone and cannot be an emergency shelter; however, following the storm Anona will respond.

We will continue to track the status of Hurricane Irma and the potential impact on our region to keep you updated with program cancellations.

Please consider preparations you need to make at this time to keep you and your family safe if our area is affected by severe weather. If you have not done so already, please review your safety plans, gather necessary supplies and communicate your plans with family and friends. Pinellas County Emergency Management provides preparedness information on their website: http://www.pinellascounty.org/emergency/prepareahead.htm
