Sunday, May 12 - Hearers & Doers

Erin Padgett

Today is Mother’s Day, and we’re going to start the morning with a little wisdom from our mothers. Like the wise man and the foolish man in the Matthew story, we all seek both knowledge and wisdom throughout our lives. But which is more important? What’s the difference between knowledge and wisdom? What does scripture say about them? We’ll be asking these questions and more as we explore our spiritual journey through knowledge and wisdom in worship.

Rev. Jeremy Herrington
Matthew 7:24-27

Also called Discipleship, the movement from a receiver of the services the Church offers to a provider of those services is often the journey toward depth in the Christian faith as we take on the heart of a servant and the Mind of Christ. If we believe in Jesus we follow Jesus into addressing human need. We move from I can take care of my problems (resiliency by faith) to belonging (I am willing to belong to the Body of Christ), to “touching” human need (ministry, mission, compassion, and service). My prayer for you today is to be called forward in that journey to Glorify God with your life.

Sunday, April 28 - Now Then

Erin Padgett

The last half of the last verse in the Gospel of Matthew is “lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world”. It just said “go”, then “baptize”, then “teach”. Then it ends with “I will be with you”. Get out there, clean ‘em up and teach them, and I will be with you. What a way to end a book. Now then, Easter is past and “normal” time happens. What does it mean that Jesus is with us?

Easter Sunday - April 21

Erin Padgett

“If a tree falls in the forest…” Does a thing happen if we don’t experience it? What is a sound if we don’t hear it? What is the Resurrection to you that it happened and therefore has impacted you? Things happen in threes. First the event of it happening. “He is Risen”. Then, secondly, emanating from the event is the sound, the light, the telling. “He is Risen”. Third, like a tsunami, the impact. It hits us. “He is Risen”. Has it impacted you that “He is Risen”? Death has been defeated? Like ripples through time the impact comes to us over 2000 years. Has it hit you yet?

Matthew 21:1-10
