New to Anona?

We realize that visiting a new church can be intimidating, and we want your experience at Anona to be as comfortable as possible. Here are answers to a few commonly asked questions to give you an idea of what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Feel free to reach out to the church office for more information on getting connected through Small Groups, Classes, Missions, and more.

  • Dress is informal. Come as you are, even for our Traditional Service. Some people wear their “Sunday best” but a lot of folks wear flip-flops and beach shorts. It is Florida, after all!

  • Messages are meant to be functional as we seek to work out our own salvation through Jesus Christ on our spiritual journey. You can expect to hear good theology and also walk away with ways to incorporate the Gospel in your everyday life.

  • Everyone is welcome at Anona. We are happy to be a church of a very inclusive people: it’s our culture. What does that mean? Some of us are conservative, some liberal, some drink, some don’t, some gay, most straight, and some comfortable with that and some not. We are mostly white, but growing in our diversity. What unites us is that we are all attracted to the thought of a Christian life that is meaningful and purposeful.
When you are here, we hope you can meet with God, feel right at home, and know that you are a cherished part of this church family.

  • Anona United Methodist Church belongs to the Florida Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church which includes more than 280,000 members from African-American, Anglo, Filipino, Haitian, Hispanic, Korean, Native American, Russian and Vietnamese backgrounds making up one dynamic church. Here are some of our core values:

We love God and search the Scriptures to hear and obey God's Word.

We welcome and serve all people, particularly the poor and marginalized, as an expression of God’s love for us.

We desire everyone to experience a life of worship and joy in God's presence by faith in Jesus Christ.

We are changed by the power of the Holy Spirit as we learn to follow Jesus.

We believe that changed people are called to change their communities by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We believe all disciples are called to discover their gifts and to live out their unique mission.

We share our faith in the context of authentic relationships.

Because we follow Jesus together, we have a responsibility to hold one another accountable for our discipleship.
